Conley campaign: Dems are stealing Republican primary election

"The future of our Republican Party, our values, and our community hang in the balance."

Will Conley

Note: The emailed message below was making the rounds Monday morning. It is from a group of Democrats responding to that yellow flyer mailed to Republican voters last week by the Conley campaign. It's nice to see that some Dems are at least trying to inject a little humor in a campaign that otherwise has been marked by a lot of ugly personal attacks and hype (see yellow flyer below). The race between incumbent Commissioner Will Conley and challenger Sam Brannon will be decided in the Republican primary election. Election day is Tuesday May 29. Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you haven't voted, you should. In this race, every vote will count. It could be a cliff hanger or a big win for either candidate.

** Please click on "Older Posts" below the yellow flyer for the complete lineup of previously published stories in the RoundUp. Thanks.

Democrats Respond: Conley's having a fit

Precinct 3 County Commissioner, Will Conley, has accused Democrats of voting in the Republican Primary, and he’s mad. In fact he’s so mad about this that he sent out a long letter to Republicans, telling them that: Democrats are sabotaging the Republican Primary and stealing the Republican Party.

Democrats are organizing and voting in large numbers for Conley’s opponent, Sam Brannon. Democrats are doing this because they despise traditional conservative values.

Here’s our response to Conley’s whining: As a group of dedicated Democrats, we'd be the first to tell you that we couldn’t steal a party if we wanted to.

We also wonder why anybody would accuse Democrats of being organized in the first place.

Let's face it. Conley's having a fit and we can make it even worse. Think of it this way. If you want to make a difference in local government, this time around, now’s the time to vote in the Republican Primary. Now’s the time to make Commissioner Conley’s worst nightmare come true.

VOTE TODAY in the Republican Primary and VOTE for SAM BRANNON.

Let's give ourselves a break from Conley's tyranny and dishonesty.

This is our last chance to GET RID OF WILL CONLEY!

VOTE for Sam Brannon TODAY.

You cannot steal an election that you do not own.

Voting is a right and nobody, no party, owns me or my vote.

I am a citizen who wants a choice in this election.

The Republican Primary is where the choices are and you want a choice this election, then that is where you vote.

I couldn't agree more with David. Conley and the signatories on his flyer show what an autocratic bunch they truly are, with Conley as the ring leader. It's high time for that little ring of control freaks to be broken and voted out. I say to the Democrats, GO GET EM! This is our county and our country, too!

Saying that I as a Democrat am a threat to traditional values (God Country Mom and Apple Pie) is an insult worthy of a slap to the face. I live by these values! How dare you Mr. Conley and how dare YOU you shameless Conley cohorts!

Conley's the real liberal said...

Sam Brannon's "liberal agenda" is to cut back on the county's huge debt load of $300 million and to promote transparency and open meetings in our local government decision making. If that's liberal I will vote for it any day any place. Conley is pro debt, pro spending and pro secret meetings. Who would you vote for???

I do not know who will win the Precinct 3 primary.

But if 'may the best man win' means anything, anything at all, then Sam Brannon will win.

Sam: I want to take this opportunity now to congratulate you and thank you for running this race with dignity and honor. You held your head high, Sam, even in the face of the hate-slinging Conley and his supporters.

I am ashamed of Conley's behavior especially when he stooped to slinging hate toward the very people he was sworn in to represent, those of us who only sought to exercise our right to vote for the candidate of our choice.

So, here's to you, Sam Brannon, for rising head and shoulders above the hate and staying on message.

I hope we get good news tonight and find that you won Sam. I for one will be doing the Snoopy Dance.

Congratulations to Brannon for having the courage to confront the Republican machine. This was an uphill battle, but the fix was in, the big money backed the crooked incumbent and the people will lose in the end.

Why bother being honest when it seems nobody cares if Conley is a crook?

Have we all become this cynical?

No snoopy dance for you!

Where will SB land next? Did the Dallas area thing. Lost. Did the Austin area thing. Lost. Houston next? Will you guys please follow him and help run his campaign there?

No, we will not follow Sam to Houston if that is his intention. We're already working on Conley's next challenger. I sure hope Conley's shady dealings come to light to a larger population of Hays County; with any luck he'll have to resign.

Well the Wimberley/Woodcreek voters lost and are doomed to four more years of Wilton Confield.
Conley has showed his true colors this election. The voters now know that if you are not 100% for Conley and his buddy Winton then you do not count. One of Will's supporters said it best "welcome comrade".

No time or effort to be wasted on "hating" Conley just what he stands for: graft and corruption. He WILL be exposed further for what he is before this term is up!

Well, Conley was right again. The Democrats STOLE the Hays County Republican Party and have begun instituting their LIBERAL agenda of big government, big spending, big debt and County overreach.

Oh, right, no, that's the REPUBLICAN AGENDA under Will Conley and his Developer Over Lords.

People, you will not be happy with what Conley and his bosses have in mind for our community, but don't say we didn't warn you.

Dear Hays CountyRepublican Party,

Thank you for letting us radical Wimberley Democrats steal your Party and turn it into a hotbed of socialism and hatred for traditional values.

It has only been a few days since we stole your party, but we are having the nicest time playing with all your conservative stuff and doing weird liberal things to everything you hold dear.

In November, we plan to steal the Texas Republican Party, too, so we can bring back Ann Richards from where she has been hiding, elect a bunch of black, brown and gay people to public office and make it illegal to be a white man over 65.

Thank you so much,

The Democrats
