County announces updated schedule of redistricting public meetings

Source: Hudson Research 10/02/10
Note to Apple computer owners/users: You will not be able to view live-streaming of any of these public hearings (nor any commissioners court proceedings) because the county's taxpayer paid live stream software and system is not compatible with Apple's operating system. What a shame. We have raised this issue with the county's tech people, thus far to no avail. Our guess is there are a few thousand Apple users in this county (many in our public schools, publishers, graphics people, etc.) who are not being given equal access to this valuable "public" resource. This, at a time when Apple's share of the market is growing rapidly. Please join us in registering your support to add Apple to the county's live stream cart. You can start by contacting Ms. Chernow or your county commissioner. Thanks.

As of this moment, no public meetings are being hosted by Commissioner Ingalsbe in her precinct. And Commissioner Conley is hosting, along with Comm. Whisenant, only one meeting -- in San Marcos. Conley will drone on in generalities--akin to praising Mom and apple pie--, but you'll go away unsatisfied from that meeting, feeling either unheard and/or unanswered.

If you feel that way, please stay home, nobody will miss you.

So nice to hear from you Commissioner Conley. Feel free to drop in and speak your peace any old time.

There is a lengthy article about Hays County precinct redistricting in the July 17 Austin paper, p.B1. It's "Proposed maps rile some in Kyle."

Commissioner Conley has scheduled his only informational meeting on precinct redistricting for July 21 at 8 p.m. in San Marcos. That is the night that HTGCD meets at 6 p.m. in Dripping Springs on HTGCD redistricting. The HTGCD meeting will probably run longer than usual because there will be wrangling about its redistricting. The upshot is that for any Precinct 3 (Conley) citizen who wants to go to the HTGCD meeting to give input, it will be almost impossible to get from DS to Comm. Conley's meeting in San Marcos at 8 p.m.

Mr. Conley, please change the date of your evening meeting so that Precinct 3 people can attend both HTGCD and precinct redistricting meetings.

Addition to Commissioner Whisenant's schedule:

He will also take questions on July 22 from 11 a.m.-2p.m. at the Precinct 4 Bldg.

Just look at how many public Q&A meetings the commissioners are willing to have to discuss precinct redistricting with us! Yet they won't hold even ONE such meeting to inform us about the LCRA purchases.

Commissioner Debbie Ingalsbe has now decided to co-host a public redistricting meeting, along with Commissioner Mark Jones, on Wednesday, July 20. The meeting will be 6-7:30 p.m. at 111 Front Street, Kyle.

Tonight (Wed, July 20) is the only time Commissioner Ingalsbe will be hosting a meeting on precinct redistricting (and it's not even being held in her own precinct.) It will be at 111 N. Front Street in Kyle, co-hosted by Commissioner Mark Jones.

A good question to ask them is, that since Ingalsbe's district will be way over-populated, why
doesn't she give up the excess people to Jones' precinct? Then his precinct wouldn't have to give up as much land to Precinct 4.
