Big changes seen coming in county redistricting

Comm. Whisenant is a great guy, don't get me wrong, but will DS want or need the same things that we associate with our wonderful Buda/Kyle area?

This is the current map
of Hays County com-
missioner precincts. The
boundaries are undergoing
changes under a proposed
county redistricting plan.

Note: This letter from an alert citizen is circulating to groups and persons around the county. "I've personally emailed the commissioners," the letter's author told the RoundUp in an email. "I've gotten replies from 2 of them trying to assure me that things were being worked out and more transparency would be forthcoming." We have edited the letter for spelling. And we will not be surprised if the commissioners court pushes through its redistricting plan for Hays County without any meaningful consideration of public input.

If you want to know how you might be affected by the county's redistricting, give a shout to your commissioner or County Judge Bert Cobb,

Dear Residents,

If you have not been keeping up with the redistricting process in the county, Meadow Woods and Mt. City have now been drawn into the Pct 4 Commissioner's pct. Everything West of 2770, Scott Street and South of 150, including HTK, will be included. That is in Dripping Springs! Hello!!

Comm. Whisenant is a great guy, don't get me wrong, but will DS want or need the same things that we associate with our wonderful Buda/Kyle area? We all need to contact the commissioner whom we elected to represent us, Comm. Mark Jones, and let him know that we do care and don't want to now be represented by Dripping Springs!

The two commissioners that are on the committee are Comm. Inglesbe from San Marcos, and Comm. Conley from Wimberley. Please contact them as well. This is serious and makes no sense.

This is not a republican or democratic issue, it is a PEOPLE issue.

A lot of the East side in the Kyle area is represented by Comm. 1 (Inglesbe) from San Marcos. She will be given quite a bit more of the East area. At least they connect and she knows this area well.

It makes much more sense for Dripping Springs to run straight through Driftwood and down 967 to take in Ruby Ranch and Bliss Spillar area that are closest to Dripping Springs! The numbers, by law, have to diminish by about 13,000 in this area to make all pcts equal in population. But I think this is really stretching it....

There will be a final map to post on fb, be looking for it later.

This is extremely time sensitive and from what I understand, there will be no public hearings, but a final map (w/us in DS) will be presented to Comm Court as early as next week.

Please, please contact Mark Jones, our commissioner, Will Conley and Debbie Ingalsbe. Their (contact) info is on the website: www.co.hays.tx.us and let them know we elected Mark Jones to represent our best interests, and not the Comm. in DS. Call, email, whatever, just let them know your opinions.

This only happens once every 10 years, so now is our shot!

Thank you!

Another map that only politicians could draw.

Why is Debbie's district so long an narrow? She should give up north of Yarrington, and take more of San Marcos.

Mark Jones could pick up a more compact district including the south and east of Pct 2.

Pct 3 and 4 should stick to the more rural areas, so their constituents will have more common needs.

This map is party politics and election rigging, just like the maps our legislature is handing us.

The County's Redistricting Committee was appointed March 1, 2011 by Commissioners Court. No one knows how many times they have met- or how many maps they have proposed or discussed. All of their meetings have been behind closed doors.

Is this anyway to conduct the people's business? What exactly was the big secret?

The Map looks good to me. If you Democrats don't like the way things are going, you should remember that destroying your own candidates and then staying home in the last election cost you dearly. The way things are looking with our economy being destroyed by those in Washington, you probably won't do much better next time.

Why does the least populated area of the county continue to be represented by TWO commissioners?

Answer: Because Will Conley gets whatever he wants in this county. He is the de facto County Judge

Hope everyone loves this map - because the people who make up the largest population on the east side are going to continue to subsidize the people on the west side with their county property taxes. Wake up and smell the coffee

The map attached to this article shows the PRESENT precinct boundaries. Where can we view the map that the Conley-Ingalsbe committee is proposing? It's not on the Hays County website.
