Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos Tx – Hays County will hold an open house tonight (Thursday) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., hosted by Precinct 4 Commissioner Ray Whisenant, to show the four maps that Commissioners chose as the top contenders for redistricting and to answer questions about them. This is not a scheduled open meeting, as other Commissioners may rotate in and out to answer questions from the public, and there is no formal agenda. The open house is planned for live-streaming on the Intranet at www.co.hays.tx.us/commcourtlive.com.
The County Courthouse is at 111 E. San Antonio Street, San Marcos. The meeting is in the third-floor Commissioners Courtroom.
Contact Ms. Chernow or Commissioner Whisenant’s Office if you have any questions, 512.858.7268, ray.whisenant@co.hays.tx.us.

The only 4 maps still posted on the county redistricting website are M1 Final, M2, O, and P. Those are the Final Four from which one will be chosen by Commissioners Court at the final public hearing on Aug. 16 at the courthouse.
The commissioners' preferred maps are:
Ingalsbe - Plan P
Jones - Plan M2
Conley - Plan M1 Final
Whisenant - Plan O.
Judge Cobb did not reveal his preference.
Why are voters left to discuss WHICH map they prefer?
Voter discussion should be on who prepared the maps, the process used, are they fair and representative and do any of them pass legal muster.
Two commissioners up for reelection are put in charge of redistricting and each comes up with their personal favorites.
To paraphrase the musical song, "Everything's up to date in Hays County."
