Rice band at halftime asks: "Is your candidate smarter than an Aggie?"
Note: If you haven't seen it, here's part of the Rice MOB band's halftime performance at yesterday's Texas-Rice game. Hook 'em Horns! The band pokes some lighthearted fun at Rick Perry's run for the White House.

All this Perry bashing makes me want to give all my pollution profits to Aggie Land and not to Rice or UT.
Is that Moppitt or Muppet? The Eyes of Texas were upon them... great band, always a welcome sight to see on the field in Austin. Hook 'em.
How is it OK to take digs at Perry, yet if the Rice band took a dig at Obama it would not be tolerated? There is a HUGE double standard here. The Rice band could have easily asked "Does your candidate have a 'real' birth certificate and Social Security number that belongs to him?"
to Anon 9:39 AM:
What do you mean that Obama supporters can't tolerate a dig at him? We take them -- even laugh at them -- all the time. It's you Perry supporters who can dish it out but not take it.
Oh, boohoo...are the ol' meanies picking on Mr. Priss?
My, oh my...never heard a dig at Obama...Oh, mercy no.
The Rice band gets my vote for telling it likebitbis. Your man is six loves short of a dozen, anon honey.
If the Ed can find anything anywhere that is a dig at Perry he will include it here. At a stupid football game for Christ's sake? Now that is a stretch and if that is all you can find, I'd suggest you hang it up. It is a fact that Perry will beat Obama. let's hope he does it before the guy totally destroys the country. Actually almost any Republican can beat Obama and that is what all of this is about.
Mega Dittos:
Are you willing to put your money where your mouth is?
I will bet you $500.00 that if Perry is nominated by the GOP, Obama will beat him like a slave trader getting whipped in reverse.
If you want to take my bet we can remain Anonymous by having Bob Ochoa, Roundup Editor handle the bet.
I will assume that if Ochoa is willing to post this comment, he is willing to handle the bet.
Time to show your cojones, Mega Duddles.
I just hope the Tea Partiers look at Perry's record and realize he's not the be-all-end-all they make him out to be by flocking around him. Patricia Kilday Hart (formerly of Texas Monthly fame) has done some excellent investigative work on Perry's secrecy while in office, not being forthcoming about his travels and schedule and who he's meeting with. He's been challenged on the way he makes appointments to boards and the favoritism he shows to big donors. His response is only to say he "does what's best for Texas." Some of this stuff had come out during the last Governor's race between Perry and Bill White, but Texans as a whole were not likely to flee Perry wholesale because White had financial woes of his own, and wouldn't release his tax records. We looked the other way.
It would be sad to think we only had a choice between Obama and Perry, and I think Obama could make a lot of hay with Perry's cronyism and backdoor dealing.
I thought Romney was the best of the field last time and still think he would make a great president. The Tea Party started out with good intentions, but has morphed into a tail to be wagged by Sarah Palin.
Retrocon appears to be a real fiscal conservative who thinks with his mind and his heart. Kudos to Retrocon - who even has a great moniker.
I wholeheartedly agree with his general assessment of the neoRepublican politicians.
However, at the last Republican predidential debate, everyone on the panel - including Huntsman and Romney - raised their hand when asked if they would reject a 10 to 1 ratio of tax hikes if that were the best compromise to a budget agreement with the Democrats.
Personal, I think that is pure political BS from all of them.
I would like your pespective on that issue, Retrocon.
Btw, keep you comments coming. They are a breath of fresh air.
Rick Perry debates tonight -- something he avoided with Bill White.
On TV tonight at 7 p.m. our time. Look for Perry to sidestep any question that is asked and go into his one stump speech about how Texas has created so many jobs. NOT. Most of the new jobs are low paying. Texas' unemployment rate is
at a 24-year high.
