NEW ORLEANS, Sunday June 19, 2011Rick Perry’s closest political adviser said Saturday that the Texas governor is “50-50” about whether to run for the White House. That was before Perry brought down the house here with a rousing speech at the Republican Leadership Conference. On the RLC’s final day, the governor got a rapturous response from over a thousand GOP activists, demonstrating why both donors and the party’s grassroots want to coax him into the still-unsettled primary.

New website progresstexas.org has a fun interactive page listing some of the truths about Perry's Texas legacy.

Question: What do you call an incumbent Governor who wins with a mere 39 percent of the total votes? Answer: Texas Governor Rick Perry.

So, why would Perry even consider a run for the presidency in 2012? The man is delusional. In his own words, he thinks he is “a prophet” doing God’s work. Perry has won an unprecedented 4th term as governor because the other Republican and Democratic candidates scare-off Texas voters even worse than Perry does.

Somehow Perry wrote a book against the Federal Government’s intrusion into State’s rights. However, Perry pushes for the State’s intrusion into the daily lives of Texans, as per his determination in approving the recent law to force all women who seek an abortion to first view a mandatory sonogram.

In 2007, by employing executive order and bypassing the legislature entirely, Perry ordered STD vaccinations to prevent cervical cancer for ALL young girls and then demanded that Medicaid pays for it.

The human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is manufactured by Merck & Company, which supports Perry and has contributed large amounts of campaign contributions into Texas politics. According to a February 03, 2007 article by the Associated Press:
"Merck is bankrolling efforts to pass state laws across the country mandating Gardasil for girls as young as 11 or 12. It doubled its lobbying budget in Texas and has funneled money through Women in Government, an advocacy group made up of female state legislators around the country."
In addition, Merck lobbyist Mike Toomey, is a former Perry Chief of Staff. Perry’s current Chief of Staff’s mother-in-law is GOP State Representative Dianne White Delisi who is a state director of Women in Government. Perry’s special interest ties are well-known to watchful Texans.

Consequently, Rick Perry is a hypocrite when he preaches against federal government involvement and then in the name of his elite supporters, drives to give the State more power in the daily lives of Texans.

During the past 11 years as Governor of Texas, Perry has strengthened his core of special interests and he feels he can do no wrong. One of his inner core special interests is the Religious Right who shares Perry’s religious convictions against abortion.

One thing U.S. taxpayers do NOT need is another special interest driven Presidential candidate who will make his wealthy special interest supporters richer. Republican and Democratic voters should look past the Perry hype and see the man for what he is: Another bought, special interest driven Texas politician who cares little about resolving the urgent issues and instead caters to the greed and desires of an elitist constituency.

Great truthful expose on Rick Perry and his pack of scumdog millionaires by Peter Stern. Stern is a true conservative unlike the neoCons that criticize Stern for his intelligent commmentary.

And as I wrote in a recent posting:

"Homophobic Texas Governor Rick Perry's Houston hate soiree is sponsored by the American Family Association (AFA).

The AFA’s Director of Policy Analysis - Bryan Fischer – said on the AFA radio station:

“Homosexuality gave us Adolph Hitler, and homosexuals in the military gave us Brown Shirts, the Nazi war machine and six million dead Jews.”

More recently, in comments about a South African newspaper columnist found guilty of hate speech for a 2008 column, Fischer said,

“This sorry incident tells us two things: homosexualism will kill free speech, and homosexualists are bigots.”

It’s no surprise that Perry would associate himself so closely with an anti-gay group like AFA.

In a decade as governor, he has waged a fight to keep “homosexual conduct” listed as a criminal offense in the state penal code – a law he has said is “appropriate.”

The U.S. Supreme Court struck down Texas’ anti-sodomy law in 2003 in Lawrence v. Texas. In 2005, while signing a bill to amend the state constitution to specifically prohibit gays and lesbians from marrying.

Rob Parsley, a homophobic celebrity Pentecostal faith healer, joined Perry and lauded the governor for “protecting the children of Texas from the gay agenda.”

Most rapid anti-homosexual actions are a sign the political perpetrators are closet homosexuals, as they try to hide behind their own self-hate by persecuting others like him or her.

The Republican Party is deep with closeted gay (mostly) men, who unfortunately are afraid to come out for fear of losing their family status and for being seen as hypocrites."

This is the type of person Rich Perry is.

There are quite a few, some call them conspiracy theorists, who believe Perry received approval by the behind the doors Bilderberg Group to become the Bush 2.0 and receive the GOP's #1 slot in a candidate group of misfits.

The headline for this story is "Bending and hiding the truth is a Perry art form."

Just the addition of a couple of commas makes another true headline:

"Bending, and hiding the truth, is a Perry art form."

That is very clever, funny, and ironically true.

In today's Statesman (Jun 23,p.A8) political writer Ken Herman points out that Rick Perry had better be ready for scrutiny of every detail of his life if he announces a run to become president. Rumors that Perry is gay have been reported in the Statesman before, and those rumors seem to have a life of their own.

My own belief is that Perry hasn't announced his candidacy for Prez because of those rumors. We'll see.

Disclaimer: I am not anti-gay. I'm aware that many U.S. voters are, however.

Quote from Rick Perry himself: "This [his wife, Anita] is the first girl I ever had a date with in my life. We dated for 16 years and we married and we started a family...."

Dated for 16 years?! Sounds to me like a man who married only to quell rumors about himself and to make himself more electable to political office. And Anita has looked like a zombie ever since.

There is a good biography of Rick Perry at www.wikipedia.org. Among other things, it details Perry's views, by subject, on various political questions -- death penalty, abortion, homosexuality, etc.

Even more interesting will be the scrutiny given to Perry's pro-death penalty administration.

I recall reading that Texas during Perry's 4 terms has killed more people than any other state.

It will be interesting to see how voters in other state will view the issue.

Personally, during my lifetime I have gone back and forth regarding the issue of death penalty. However, long ago I realized that there are humans who have "earned" the death penalty and whose death is in the best interest and safety of the community.

The question regarding Perry as Governor is the high number of deaths he approved.
