PEC committee sends recommendations on bylaws, bill of rights to board

Pedernales Electric Cooperative’s Governance, Bylaws and Legal Committee met on Wednesday, Feb. 3 and voted to send key governing documents to the Cooperative’s full Board of Directors for consideration.
When the Board meets on Feb. 22, it will consider approving revisions to PEC’s bylaws, and whether or not to put a revised articles of incorporation, which would include the Co-op’s first member bill of rights, up for a member vote.

Here's the bottom-line:
Regular electric companies charge clients more than electric cooperatives. There are several reasons for this, but I won't go into it here.
Cooperatives still charge their clients too much for their electric needs.
No matter who is running Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) its members will pay higher costs than are necessary.
If PEC is a cooperative and all its members are part owners in the coop, then why do the clients still pay too much for electricity?
Yeah, yeah... the laws of supply and demand contribute to this issue, but someone in, or related to the coop, is making tons of profit.
Exactly what can be done to get electric costs under some control?
Right now there is little legislative oversight on how coops like PEC do their business.
I personally have written Sen. Jeff Wentworth and Rep. Patrick Rose, but neither one will work to get PEC under more control. In fairness, the current laws protect electric coops from real government oversight.
However, Wentworth, who serves on the Board of Directors of the Natural Resources Foundation of Texas, even stated that PEC has new management and he wants to keep a legislative "hands-off" approach and see what the new management does.
So, the solution for/by our leaders is to do NOTHING. More and more it seems that Texans are being left to manage their lives while profiteers make more money.
Don't get me wrong, I believe in Capitalism, but NOT at the absurd expense of average Texans.
Unfortunately, there is no one opposing Sen. Wentworth in his reelection bid, so the guy is a "shoe-in".
Wentworth continues to do little to help individuals and families.
Texans are letting Sen. Wentworth, Rep. Rose and other get away with providing a great deal for their wealthy special interests and virtually nothing for the rest of us. Both these guys are bought by Texas LAWYERS organizations and individuals.
Vote for Backus in the next election and get rid of Rose! It is overdue.
Do we need more government control over electric cooperatives if we can not depend on coops -- PEC --- to regulate themselves properly???
So, Bob and readers, what is the option to lower electric costs to reality-based levels?
