Thanks to Peter Stern for these gorgeous photos taken this morning out around the Driftwood area. Enjoy, and drive safely!

Growth in Hays County is straining our roads, open spaces and water supply. Citizens are demanding intelligent, honest planning for future growth and special interests are jockeying for influence and a stake in the lucrative development bonanza. The RoundUp invites you to tune in as we will be presenting the 'healthy skeptic's view,' finding the spin and the truth in the votes and actions of our public officials.

When I moved back to Texas a couple of years ago, I soon remembered about Texans and Weather. In Colorado where I was living they said, “Only Texans and Fools try to predict the weather in Colorado”. I thought it was funny but didn’t pay much attention to it. Now that I’m back, I see more than that. Texans will lie about the weather when they wouldn’t lie about anything else.
On Texan says, ”It was 14 degrees at the house this morning” The next one says, “it was 12 out at my house”, another says 10 degrees and it goes on ‘til someone swears it was 10 below and says he saw a polar bear out on his ranch this morning. Besides football, I don’t know anything that comes close to a Texan’s obsession with weather.
Anybody want to report how many inches of snow you got out of our little blizzard?
There was so much snow falling along FM967 this afternoon I could barely see out the windshield. I had to stop at one point to let a herd of reindeer cross.
I'm sure you also know this one about Texans own unique form of commuication:
A Texas State trooper pulled over an old dusty pickup driven by a cowhand from a nearby ranch as he headed east on I-10. The trooper asked, "Got any ID?" The cowboy replied, "Bout' whut?"
