Early voting is under way . . . make sure to vote!

RoundUp Photo

Clark Regan has taken the early lead in the nomination for Best Costume during early voting. Regan spent some time electioneering outside the Wimberley Community Center today. It was the first day of early voting in Wimberley, where more than 260 voters had cast their ballots by 4 p.m. in the Republican and Democratic primaries. Mr. Regan and Kent "Bud" Wymore are vying for the position of County Chair of the Hays County Republican Party. Regan promises that if elected he will call for a joint session of county Dem and Republican leaders to discuss issues and areas of common interest.

For the schedule of early voting, go to this link at the county elections office web site : http://www.elections.co.hays.tx.us/March22010brElectionInformation/tabid/110/Default.aspx

Well, Nobody, you sure are a party pooper. I like Mr. Regan's idea of a rapprochement between the two local parties. Sounds very Obama-esque.

"Nobody" is correct.

The politics in this nation has evolved to the point that it only enhances the lives of the wealthy sector in our nation.

Greed overshadows the community good.

Our nation is in imbalance, which now causes many problems.

Our own citizens are 2nd citizens as we provide more options for non-citizens and lessen those for Americans.

Jobs still are being outsourced as the unemployment rate soars across the nation.

Health care is a problem except for the wealthy. Congressional members have the best health care plan, which should be the same we all have, but good luck with that.

Our nation is still rambling down that long, lonesome road. Americans are hurting, but no one acknowledges the problem and there are no resolutions forthcoming.

So far, "Nobody" is correct.

At this time in US history, between voting, consumer activism, or investor activism, voting is probably the least effective way to force change. Politicians are just too sold out to special interest money (e.g. Rose) - or they themselves are their own special interest money (e.g. Barton and Conley) - to be relied on to act in the best interest of us citizens ( Liz Sumter is an exception in my mind).

My suggestion to you cynical disenfranchised voters is to focus on using your consumer and investment money to force change. For example, if you don't like the big banks (and the politicians they own), move your savings and checking accounts to the local banks or credit unions.

Of if you are smart and understand that it is the health insurance companies ripping off your money (not the government), raise your insurance deductibles, deposit the premium savings in a self-funded reimbursement account, eat less sugar, and exercise more. In other words, quit playing the unhealthy and ignorant victim to either corporate or government abuse. Oh, by the way, stop listening to hate news and going to Tea Party circle jerks. You will feel less angry and less depressed instantly.

Also, if you want to make another statement to big business, sell all your large company mutual funds and buy small company mutual funds. Small companies represent the true strength and health of American free enterprise. Large companies are the corrupters of our federal and state governments and the slave masters of our politicians. Support your own rhetoric by taking action where you can.

For you naysayers who think these actions won't work, think about how investment entities like the California State Retirement System (CALPERS) helped bring down the apartheid government of South Africa with their investment boycotts. Mass boycotts with our money are maybe the only way these days to force change with any business or government.

Will it ever happen? I'm skeptical. Americans seem to be too complacent and satisfied being obese, in debt, angry victims, haters, bigots, iPhonies, American Idols, Obama blamers, waiting to be saved by the rapture, Confederate flag goobers, buyers of cheap Chinese products even though Americans are losing jobs, and begging for some politician to hear their poor me pleas.

On a lighter note: Did you hear about the bedwetting Ku Klux Klansman? He came to a cross burning rally wearing rubber sheets.

Your state representative’s office has been sold. SOLD so that you can be buried in meaningless high-dollar glossy political junk mail. Pinocchio Rose has raised the greatest amount of lobby money of ALL Democratic state representative candidates just so he can fill your mailbox with worthless self promoting trash. This expensive junk mail spouts his imaginary feats of assisting in the cure of breast cancer, solving health care and education problems, and sparking the economy. Accompanied by pictures of him playing doctor’s assistant, leader, businessman and perhaps cowboy as he stands next to a man wearing a cowboy hat.
All this posturing and posing doesn’t hide the reality that his main interest is taking vast amounts of lobby money, working against the common interest for the special interest, and just plain posing for photos. He really is just a poser on the public’s dollar. Pretty soon he’ll probably appear as an astronaut, policeman, Oscar winner, train engineer, fireman, mechanic, teacher, postman, airplane pilot, … you’ll get the pictures.
The problems that he has “solved” are still here and a glossy piece of political junk mail does not change anything. These pieces only add to the trash that you have to deal with. He’s assaulting your mailbox with his “checkbook politics”. Next up, he’s going to attack your television and radio. At least you have a protection against these assaults on your daily life, you can turn these devices off.
Turn Pinocchio Rose OFF, vote for Andrew Backus – a public servant not a public nuisance.
Keep in mind – Rose is just a lobbyist/realtor posing as a representative.

To look at his record of service, Rep. Rose while running under the umbrella of a Democrat has voted mostly for GOP special interests. He has “kissed the bottoms” of such notable GOP leaders as Gov. Rick Perry, former House Speaker Tom Craddick and former toll czar legislator Rep. Mike Krusee.

In addition, Rose has actually done very little for the average residents of the counties he is supposed to serve; Blanco, Hays and Caldwell.

That being stated, I voted and supported Rose when he first ran against former Rep. Rick Green. I thought that when Rose returned home from Princeton and ran for office, his words of doing good for the community were not merely lip-service and that he offered some long-needed new blood into an ailing system.

Since Rose’s words have proven to mean very little over the past several years, I stopped supporting him and urge voters to reconsider voting for another candidate.

“I will have naught to do with a man who can blow hot and cold with the same breath” — Aesop, (620-560 BC)

It is that statement that most highlights the career of Patrick Rose. I had hoped for better, but I am sorry to say that you just can not trust the man.

How about stop buying Dell computers until Michael Dell returns the jobs he outsourced to India????

Doing the same with other companies who have added significantly to the American unemployment rate???

Do NOT buy a GM car until the company pays back all the money it blatantly ripped-off U.S. taxpayers and then closed a large number of dealerships also adding to our unemployment rate. GM Execs are totally arrogant. If you want a car or truck, buy Ford!

Dell Computers, as most electronics are made in China so that the buyers can get them cheap with no regard for the American worker. Both parties have looked the other way because that is what they think we want, cheap electronics. Are you willing to pay twice or more for your next computer?

General Motors was bailed out by the Democrats for only one reason, the UAW. Now we have Government Motors with the congress trying to boost their business. Tearing into Toyota is only a start; don’t expect to see any recalls for GM and Chrysler anytime soon. Keeping the unions and trial lawyers in business is the main push of Obama and the Democrats.
