On health insurance, Republican Senator Grassley says: 'We got ours, you get yours'

Editor's Note: Here's something for us average citizens to think about as we go about our workaday week shelling out big bucks for the big private health insurance companies , as if we can even afford the coverage. If you're a small company or work for yourself, you've probably heard from your agent that your premiums are going up, again, this year. Feel better now?

During a townhall in Waukon, Iowa, last week, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) was asked by a constituent of his: “Why is your insurance so much cheaper than my insurance and so better than my insurance?” When Grassley struggled to explain the details of his own health care plan, the elderly man followed up, “Okay, so how come I can’t have the same thing you have?” Grassley said, “You can. Just go work for the federal government.”

Watch the video available on this link:

Grassley has been at the forefront of railing against Obama’s health care plan, declaring, “We need to make sure that there’s no public option.” As Igor Volsky notes, there is an irony in government workers like Grassley complaining about “government-sponsored health care.” If Grassley wants to stand on principle, he could abandon his government-sponsored insurance and try his luck in the individual health insurance market.

This man is a great example of what we need in this country. Citizens with a backbone

Thanks for posting this video. It has been exposed that Grassley is a member of the C Street Family (Church). If you enjoy being scared out of your mind Google C Street Family. Family members include Mark Sanford, John Ensign among other elected officials. It explains a great deal as to why Grassley and these hypocritical thugs have this huge sense of entitlement.

I fail to see the point of why Senator Grassley's affiliations with one group or another have anything to do with his stance on health care.

I do know that when I heard President Obama say that the federal government was going to COMPETE with the private sector on health insurance I had to laugh! What a fool! Hell, there isn't any competition - the government does not have to factor in that they do not have to turn a profit. If they lose money in the proposition, all they have to do is print more money (thus devaluing the currency further - ala, inflation) or raise taxes, the Democratic Party's favorite tactic.

The problem will become whether or not the federal employees - politicians and lower - will have to abide by the law that they are proposing. Their health care is not a "public option" either, it is just like their social security plan - they get to invest their retirement funds, while the rest of us are stuck with the suck-ass plan that is already in the red, and if not bankrupt ought to be, and if it were a private enterprise they would have already approached the government for a bail-out. Instead they are too busy having "management training" at the Biltmore Hotel in Arizona to the tune of $700K of taxpayer money. Happy now "anonymous"?

BTW - a citizen with a backbone would demand to know why the Democrats won't force their candidate for president to prove that he is constitutionally eligible to be president. Rather, they hide the ball, belittle any who dare question the royal highness who has made himself president, albeit apparently illegally.

As for the "C Street Family", you fail to mention the Democrats who are also a part of this group. They happen to be part of a Christian organization. They enjoy lower rent payments for housing. What perks do the Democratic leadership enjoy that are less than savory, but you have failed to mention?

JT, I was cruising through this blog and read your comment and my first thought was: "This guy must be one of those fossils from the caveman age." Smell the coffee old man. Your kind of thinking is no longer relevant in the modern age. Please go back to your cave and enjoy your government social security checks and medicare coverage.

Jon: Where in my post do you see the words Republican or Democrat? I did mention Ensign and Sanford because they are currently in the news for doing very bad things. Duh!

Anonymous,
No I am relatively young, realizing that the fossilized thinking of liberals is just that - another FDR program like Social Security and Medicare are already bankrupt, and since those programs have worked out so well, why in the hell would we want to trust the government with another socialized program that will ultimately fail and cause further massive debt?

Also, I fail to see in either of the responses any comments about the federal government's special health care plan, and special retirement plan that only they enjoy, but do not care to participate in the rules that they place on the lowly rabble (us) because they are privileged.

Can't you guys (or gals, whatever you are) see the bullsh*t that these people are pulling over your eyes? The Federal Government "competing" with private industry? Since when? Why don't they run the gas stations, why don't they run the restaurants, why don't they run auto makers (oh, yeah they already do - and they will FAIL, especially with the federal government operating it behind the scenes - Ford was the smartest by seeing that federal money comes with strings that means that they control your business).

Again, I know that the two anonymous' are Democrats and most likely liberals because of the slash and burn politics of personal destruction, slander, and libel that they dish out rather than discussing the issues.
